We are a group of doctors (Gastroenterologists & GI Interventional Radiologists) and Endoscopy Nurses formed a Charitable organisation named Gastroenterology Training Academy. The organisation is registered with UK Charity Commission. We are UK citizens and are currently working in Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board in Swansea. The Health Board is a paired institutional partner in our project through the Chairman of our Health Board. Our aim is to improve Gastroenterology Training and further develop endoscopy services in Bangladesh. We formed this charity with initial funding from British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG). We have established a close link with Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society (BGS) and made yearly visits to Bangladesh since 2013. We have conducted training workshop and Endoscopy Training Courses in Dhaka Medical College (DMC), We also held Workshops and seminars in Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College in Dhaka & Khulna Medical College in February 2013. We held first ever ERCP course & hands-on training in Dhaka during the annual conference of the BGS. We found that the endoscopy service in Bangladesh is very inadequate and not up to the standard. It was also evident that there is no formal training structure or facilities to train future generation of Gastroenterologists. We felt there is a pressing need for establishing a National Endoscopy Training Centre. BGS officials acknowledged this need and we have teamed up to develop the training centre in Dhaka Medical College. We have written commitments from the president & Secretary General of BGS and from the principal of Dhaka Medical College. The centre will be within one of the existing buildings of DMC.

As you would appreciate there is huge cost to build this kind of facility with modern cutting edge technologies. We are requesting your help and involvement to fulfil our goal.
